Introducing Dada Hub: Africa’s First Physical Bitcoin Developer Space

Key Facts:

  • Project Name: Dada Hub
  • Location: Africa’s first physical Bitcoin hub, based in Kenya
  • Primary Users: Female developers; limited access for visiting Bitcoiners
  • Purpose: Learning, collaboration, mentorship, hands-on open-source experimentation, and Africa-focused Bitcoin and AI solutions
  • Funding Platform: Geyser

Bitcoin adoption in Africa has largely been driven by necessity: unstable currencies, surveillance, restricted access to global markets, and limited trust in legacy financial systems. Africa now has one of the fastest-growing Bitcoin user bases globally, yet suffers from a critical scarcity of Bitcoin products built locally. Developers, female and male alike, face unstable electricity, limited connectivity, minimal mentorship, and restricted access to advanced development tools such as Bitcoin nodes, Lightning infrastructure, and AI platforms. These structural gaps slow learning, reduce contributions to open-source projects, and push talent toward corporate roles rather than building Africa-focused solutions.

Leveraging a track record of fostering open-source contribution and nurturing African technical talent [see our impact], Dada Hub is designed to address these challenges. As the first physical Bitcoin hub in Africa focused on female developers, it provides a stable, resource-rich environment for learning, research, collaboration, and hands-on experimentation.

The space will host developer meetups, study and working groups, mentorship sessions, protocol education, and early-stage experimentation, including the use of Bitcoin, Lightning, and AI tools, all focused on creating open-source solutions that are locally relevant and globally impactful. In addition to serving female developers, the hub will offer limited access to visiting Bitcoiners, functioning as a node for engagement and knowledge exchange between global ecosystem participants and local developers.

To bring Dada Hub to life, we are raising support via Geyser.fund, a Bitcoin-native platform that allows funders and supporters to participate transparently. Contributions of any size directly enable the creation of this hub, ensuring that it becomes a functional, accessible, and durable environment for technical development.

Dada Hub is more than a physical location; it is a statement about infrastructure, access, and the future of Bitcoin in Africa. For female developers, it is a dedicated space to build, experiment, and contribute at scale. For visiting Bitcoiners, it is an opportunity to connect, collaborate, and engage with Africa’s growing developer ecosystem. For the broader Bitcoin ecosystem, it is a blueprint for how tangible support can create long-term, open-source impact.

If you believe in building Africa-focused Bitcoin and AI solutions, nurturing technical talent, and contributing to a lasting open-source ecosystem, support Dada Hub via Geyser or follow the link to learn more about the project and our vision.
