Nelly Nakhero

Software Engineer

Bio

Nelly Nakhero is a Software Engineer, Bitcoin builder, and Open Source contributor focused on creating technology for real African problems — from community finance to trustless digital infrastructure. She builds across Java, Spring Boot, Next.js, and Bitcoin/Lightning systems, with a strong interest in products that make complex technology feel human, useful, and accessible.

Her work spans projects like ChamaVault, a Bitcoin-powered savings platform for Kenyan chamas, digital certificate verification systems, and Lightning-inspired escrow infrastructure designed for African digital commerce. An alumnus of Bitcoin Dada Cohort 9 and Dada Devs Cohort 3, she now mentors and supports emerging African Bitcoin builders entering the ecosystem as a Peer Lead.

On Fridays, you’ll find her and her bitcoin study group buddies at the African Bitcoiners community discussing all things Bitcoin. She enjoys exploring how Bitcoin, AI, and community-driven technology can reshape financial access across Africa.

Beyond code, she’s an avid Formula 1 fan, enjoys dancing and cycling, and loves turning ambitious ideas into real products people can actually use.
